Women Without Men

Thoughts so far: (only watched the first half so far)
I find it such a shame things like this have happened and still happen in the world, Its sad that some men think of women as things as property that they haven't woken up to reality and are still living inside their twisted minds, Though a lot of people have moved on from this childish facade not all have.

The film itself was released in 2009 directed by Shirin Neshat, it focuses on the lives of four women who live in 1953, it explores how they live and the conditions of their neighborhood and society at the time in Iran.

According to a post on Quora the women in Iran are underestimated in their education, and are more educated then the outside world thinks, (This is most likely Bias though so im taking this info with a grain of salt) the post holds them in a good light not looking down upon them or belittling them. In Iran it is considered being modest wearing one.
It can sometime only refer to the hijab worn over the head however this can extent to covering everything else minis things such as the eyes.
The hijab is suppose to be worn in front of men who could be potential spouces, males of the family and other women are ok.



I might possibly go into Modesty for writing my essay, it is an intriguing topic, and how ti is viewed across the world

Disney opted for creating animations towards a large audience in the form of low art. The low art films were usually short animated films which drew in the attention of the masses

I was not able to understand this question

He goes to to explain that the essay will talk about how Disney, has possibly created a new understanding of animation and the influence the world had on Disney and the influence Disney and on the world

Explain why you think that the author is proposing a comparitivve study of "Silly Symphonies and The Brave Little Toaster." How do you think he will use this to support his main argument?  
I think that he is going to compare them because of the difference in how they are presented and how the stories differ, adding to that I believe that the little toaster is a mixture of low and high are and that it will be compared and shown what the differences are or maybe he is going to say how even though time has evolved, Disney still produces low art.

The topic of "Does Disney produce high or low art" is of interest is because through out the years, Disney has created so many different forms of film, being Silly Symphonies to Fantasia, finding out what the creation fall into being high, low or postmodern art form.

The outline of the essay is discussed at the end of the second paragraph, Benshoff doesn't make the outline of what the essay will discuss clear, however Benshoff structures the essay by first talking about the highs and lows of Disney, going on about high arts they have created and low arts, it then goes into details of the low art, by discussing silly symphonies, then moving onto The Brave little Toaster.

Benshoff claims that animated film occupies a unique niche in history as it combines various techniques of art within the film. It was a hybrid art form

2) Who is Donald Crafton and why is his assertion that the animated film can be traced to the visual features of fin de secle newspapers significant in the context of Benshoff's argument?

David Creafton, was a University professor and the founder of the Yale film study center, his significance within the essay is telling that animation originated from a low art source in old newspapers.

3) Describe in what ways you think the origins of the animated film can be traced back to visual features of "political caricature, illustration and the comic strip" and how this supports it association with "traditional commercial (low) art?
Political cartoons have been a solid part of history, through various newspapers, which if looked into, various news articles over the decades that is, they can be found, that has always been a common way of drawing attention, by the use of an image or comic.

Benshoff described these people as"high art practitioners" by this he meant that the artworks they created are deep in meaning and thought works that are of high art make you think and delve deeper into the meaning of and behind the artworks.

With art work there is such a variety that can be created there is no limit, whether someone want to create a deep thinking abstract art to pull at the minds strings or whether someone wants to create something fun to simply be enjoyed, by talking about various art from political caricature to abstract artist Benshoff demonstrated that film has the potential to be something low art for people to enjoy or high art for people to think and wonder about.

He suggested that America is different in that they had Maximized the  consumer appeal, through marketing and production. They had started out as a small cottage and over time had extended into a full blown industry.
